Spring Break in Hawai’i
During the spring semester of our sophomore year, Mya stayed home in O’ahu because school was online. So of course, I had to see her! I flew out in April during our spring break for 8 days. The trip started off strong with a 5 am wake-up, a drive to the North Shore, and a quick boat trip a few miles offshore. The shark diving was so much fun, although sorta spooky looking down into the deep blue water and seeing sharks swimming around. Our guide was super funny and cute, which made the morning much more entertaining. After going shark diving, we went and got Banzai Bowls (my literal favourite food now). We met a peacock that tried to attack us, and treked through a beautiful coconut tree farm to take photos!
The next day we had a really nice long beach day with a bbq and all of Mya’s friends. It was so much fun to meet all of them, especially after hearing about them for so long. A day at the beach was a great way to start the week, however, I managed to burn the tops of my feet and my scalp. Whoops! The following day we hiked the crouching lion (pictured to the right) and got stared at by a drone that was flying around. We also drove into town and got smoothies, wraps, and Banan (second favourite food). That evening we went out for a really lovely meal and I had fantastic sushi.
The rest of the week was just as fun-filled, probably one of the busiest weeks of my life! And easily the best! We walked to a stunning waterfall, fell asleep on the beach (and got very burnt), played with the puppies, paddled out to the Mokes, found someone’s iPhone, returned it to them, and ate amazing donuts. A few of my highlights are when we went to the prettiest ocean pool ate delicious Indian food and watched the sunset. Another highlight was our day on the boat at the sandbar. I had never been out that far and only had water to my ankles. It was really pretty driving around on the boat and looking at the islands. Finally, at the end of the week, we went ziplining which was so much fun! Our two guides were cute and very funny, they were very good at their jobs.
All in all, my week on O’ahu was easily one of my best weeks ever. We did everything we could think of and had such an amazing time. I can’t wait for my next trip to Hawai’i with Mya!
